LevelMaxing runs on published formulas. This page shows exactly how XP, levels, ranks, muscle mastery and one-rep-max estimates are calculated — using the same shared code the app runs.

The core loop

  1. Workout

    45 min strength session

  2. XP

+469 XP from the example below

  3. Level

Level 25 starts at 30,000 total XP

  4. Rank

Level 25 is where C-Rank begins

XP curve

Every level costs 100 XP more than the last.

Level 2 needs 100 total XP, level 10 needs 4,500 and level 100 needs 495,000. Steep enough to mean something, smooth enough that the next level is always within reach.

Level L starts at 50 × L × (L − 1) total XP, so each level costs exactly 100 × L XP more than the one before.

Quadratic curve

Hover or drag across the chart to read any level. The slider goes to level 200, where SSS begins.

Rank ladder

Eight tiers, from E to SSS.

Rank is recalculated from your level every time your XP changes. E-Rank is not an insult — it is where everyone begins. Here is where each tier starts and what it is called in each mode.

Rank follows level automatically. Classic and Woman modes name six tiers, so S, SS and SSS share their top tier name there.

Workout XP

What a session is worth.

Four things decide the XP for a workout. None of them reward padding a log — heavier, longer and harder sessions earn more because they are more work.

Category

A multiplier from ×0.8 to ×1.5, applied to the whole session.

Duration

5 XP for every minute, added before the category multiplier.

Exercise volume

Half your estimated 1RM, plus 2 XP for every rep you complete.

Compound vs isolation

Multi-joint lifts earn ×1.3; single-joint isolation work earns ×1.0.

The formulas

session XP = ⌊(Σ exercise XP + 5 × minutes) × category⌋

exercise XP = ⌊(base + 2 × sets × reps) × type⌋

base = ⌊½ × estimated 1RM⌋, or ⌊5% × sets × reps × kg⌋ without a 1RM

type = 1.3 compound · 1.0 isolation

Category multipliers

  • HIIT×1.5
  • Strength×1.2
  • Calisthenics×1.1
  • Cardio×1.0
  • Yoga×0.9
  • Flexibility×0.8

Worked example

Strength session · 45 min

  • Barbell bench press+97 XP

    3 × 5 @ 80 kg · 1RM 90 kg (Brzycki)

    ⌊(45 + 30) × 1.3⌋ = 97

  • Dumbbell curl+69 XP

    3 × 10 @ 14 kg · 1RM 18.7 kg (Epley)

    ⌊(9 + 60) × 1.0⌋ = 69

  • Duration45 min × 5+225 XP

⌊(166 + 225) × 1.2⌋

Muscle mastery

Seven groups, each with its own level.

Every exercise has a primary muscle group and often a secondary one. The primary takes 70% of the exercise's XP and the secondary 30%.

Muscle XP needed per level

Level L starts at 25 × L × (L − 1) muscle XP. Most rewards unlock at levels 5, 10, 15 and 25.

1RM estimation

Seven formulas, matched to your rep range.

When you log a set, LevelMaxing estimates your one-rep max with the formula that is most reliable for that number of reps. Half of that estimate becomes the base XP for the exercise.

Which formula is used

  • 1 repThe lift itselfhigh
  • 2–6 repsBrzyckihigh
  • 7–10 repsEpleyhigh
  • 11–15 repsLandermedium
  • 16+ repsO'Connerlow

Estimates lose accuracy as reps climb, so confidence drops from high to low past 10 reps.

Quests & streaks

Three quests a day, and a reason to come back tomorrow.

Daily quests are drawn from the pool for your rank and advance automatically from logged workouts. Consecutive days of training build a streak.

How quests work

  • 3 daily quests are drawn from the pool for your current rank.
  • Each set stays open until 23:59 the following day.
  • Strength quests count exercises, reps or kilograms. Cardio quests count cardio and HIIT minutes. Consistency quests need one logged workout.
